McIVOR, Elmer Joseph
McIVOR, Elmer Joseph - 56, Hubbards. It is with great sorrow that the family of Elmer McIvor announce his sudden passing in Hubbards on February 4, 2005. He was born in Saint John, N.B. and raised in Halifax. Left to mourn are his parents, Justin and Eunice McIvor, Halifax; his loving wife, the former Roma Hann; daughter, Kimberly and son, Daniel, both of Hubbards; brothers, Kevin, Paul (Tamara), niece, Clara and nephew, Jason, all of Halifax. Elmer was a graduate of Dalhousie University College of Pharmacy, "Class of '72". He was a well-liked and respected pharmacist who owned and operated Hubbards Pharmacy for 25 years, as well as Scotia Drugs and Home Prescription Services of Halifax. He also worked in Vancouver and Bermuda as a pharmacist. Elmer loved to travel and enjoyed sailing, skiing, golfing and hockey. He will always be remembered for his exuberant zest for life and his abounding love of laughter as well as his sense of humor and his generosity toward others. He will be missed greatly by his devoted family who loved him dearly. Visitation will be held Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Hubbards, Father Eric Theriault and Father Paul Morris officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.

ROBINSON, Douglas Walter
ROBINSON, Douglas Walter - Hubbards Cove. It is with deep felt sadness that the family of Douglas Walter Robinson announce that he died on February 10, 2005. Douglas was born in Windsor and was the only son of the late Walter and Ella (MacLean) Robinson. In 1948, Douglas and Mabel (Slauenwhite) Robinson were married and have been residents of Hubbards Cove for the past 56 years. Douglas was active in the community and was recognized as a co-founder of the Hubbards Fire Department. For 27 years he was the estate manager for Carmarthan Farms in Hubbards Cove and retired in 1971. In 1972, Doug followed his passion and opened Pine Gables Crafts Studio, where he created his famous "Boats in a Bottle", which are now known worldwide. Doug also enjoyed painting and was extremely supportive of the local arts community, displaying crafts from many artisans across the province. A visit to Hubbards Cove in the summer was not complete without a visit to Pine Gables. Doug was a people person and he enjoyed the company of those who came through the door, just to chat and share stories. People have returned to Pine Gables throughout the years sharing memories and creating new ones. Douglas was the devoted and loving father of his son, Paul (Linda), Hubbards Cove. Visitation will be held today in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 13, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards, Rev. Dan Green officiating. A reception will follow. Burial at a later date. Family flowers only please. MacDONALD, Robert Elmore - It is with great sadness that his wife and family announce the passing of Bob MacDonald on February 11, 2005,  comfortably at home in Hubbards. He was the eldest son of Alice Josephine (Roberts) MacDonald and the late Archibald Alexander MacDonald. Bob was born in Glace Bay on January 1, 1937. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite "Margie" (McClelland); daughter, Janette (Todd) Pettipas; sons, Donald (Sue Douglas), Frank (Shelley); their mother, Fran; Bob's first wife, as well as stepdaughters, Cheryl-Ann (John) Fillmore, Patricia MacLean
(Daniel Rayson), Lori (Stephen) Sabine; grandchildren, Paul, Patrick, Tristan and Megan; as well as step grandchildren, Brad, Troy, Mitchell, Russell, Melissa, Lev, and Mira. He is also survived by siblings, Lillian (Frank) Stiller, Sharon (Bob) Millar, Alice (Marc) Brindeau, Harvey, Jean, Margaret (George) Blois, Daniel (Vicky), Doreen (Peter) Barnes; 24 nephews and nieces including the youngest, Jonathan and Brian, who were like grandchildren to him. He was predeceased by his eldest sister, Agnes and son, Kenneth in nfancy. Bob will always be remembered for his multitude of interests and talents. His family will continue to reap the benefits of his wonderful gardens (he was an award-winning member of the Halifax Westmoreland Horticultural Society and also a member of the Basin Gardeners' Association); his voice will also be missed, which added to the church choirs and barbershop choruses throughout his life. All of the children in his extended family will deeply miss his mentorship and guidance. Our sincere thanks go to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Palliative Care Unit of QEII Health Sciences Centre and Red Cross Society. Everyone should be aware of the exceptionally fine services you all provide. Donations in memory to any of the above or Trinity United Church, Mahone Bay would be much appreciated. Family and friends will be received 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, at 279 Schwartz Rd., Hubbards. A family committal service

RICHARDSON, Michael Keith
RICHARDSON, Michael Keith - 34, Hubbards, died Friday, February 11, 2005, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, CICU, following a lengthy illness. Born in Hubbards, he was a son of Harold and Carolyn (Anderson) Richardson, Yarmouth. Mike worked as a carpenter, including building sets for movies and TV and was a member of the Hubbards and District Fire Department for a number of years. Besides his parents, he is survived by brothers, Jeffrey (Pamela), Fox Point; Brian (Tracey), Tampa, Fla.; sister, Kathleen (Obbie); nephews and nieces, Darryl, Dawn, Ariel and Cameron. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, in Chester United Baptist Church, 84 King St., Chester, Rev. McINNIS, Ronald Stewart
McINNIS, Ronald Stewart - 68, Mill Cove, passed away February 17, 2005, at home, surrounded by his family. Born in 1936, he was a son of the late Stewart and Margaret McInnis. Ronnie was loved by many, he was known for his flower gardens, woodworking, bird watching and he took great pride in his fish pond. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He worked most of his life as a stevedore on the Halifax waterfront and was a member of ILA Local 269. Ronnie also worked as a fisherman with his brother-in-law, the late Mervyn Snair. He will be truly missed by his friends and family. Thanks for all the love and support of his AA buddies especially the World Famous Hubbards Group and a very special thanks to friend Bob M. He was predeceased by good friend, Mike R., who, we are sure, is waiting for him in heaven. Missing him greatly are wife of 47 years, Christine; sons, Randy (Joanne Westhaver), Kevin (Stephanie); daughters, Wendy (Roger Jollimore), Kim (John Laws); sisters, Arlene (Colin MacIsaac), Judy (Terry Young); brother, Carmon; grandchildren, Abbie, Lucy, Tyler, Chanse, Maggie, and Jack; stepgranddaughter, Darlene; many nieces and nephews. BLACKBURN, Claire Marie - 58, Lakeside, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2005, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late William and Catherine (McCarron) Chisholm. Claire was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and an active member of the CWL. She was an avid bingo player and she enjoyed the simple things like traveling, visiting museums and just getting together with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughter, Karen Michelle (Trevor MacDonald), Tantallon; son, Gregory Wayne (Donna Little), Lakeside; sister, Karen (Kenny) Blackburn, Lakeside; brothers, Sandy (Beulah) Chisholm, Halifax; John (Debbie) Chisholm, Bear River; grandchildren, Adam and Emily MacDonald; sister-in-law, Beverly Chisholm, Antigonish; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, William Wayne. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. RYAN, John Frederick "Jack" - 67, Upper Tantallon, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2005, at home. Born in Quebec, he was the son of the late Eugene and Olive Ryan. Jack was a career soldier with the Canadian Army, retiring in the 1980's with 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife, the former Veronica Haddad; sons, Sean (Michelle), Kingston, Ont.; Mark (Jennifer), Kingston, Ont.; Jay (Fiona), British Columbia; Peter Norman, Dartmouth; Andrew Norman, Halifax; Sheldon Norman, Upper Tantallon; daughters, Florence (Ron) Shea, Dartmouth; Loretta (John Hanes) Norman, Upper Tantallon; sisters, Patricia, Halifax; Claire, Fall River; Geraldine, Herring Cove; Colleen, Western Canada; 14 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann, and second wife, Barbara; one son; one daughter. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Ronald A. TURPIN, Frederick Charles Albert
TURPIN, Frederick Charles Albert - 83, Bayswater, passed away Monday, February 28, 2005, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James and Emma (Prince) Turpin. Fred served with the Canadian Army during the Second World War and retired from Maritime Tel & Tel. Company after 35 years of service. He served on many volunteer committees and was a recipient of a WAYS Award. He was a member of All Saints Church, Bayswater, a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge for over 40 years, and was a Past Provincial Grand Master. He was a charter and life member, former president and treasurer of Seasiders Seniors Club Blandford. He served on Lunenburg County Seniors Council; was a Commissioner of the Blandford Fire Department and part of the Planning and Building Committee for the Blandford Community Centre. Fred enjoyed many years of playing and coaching hockey, gardening, bowling and golf. He will be remembered throughout the community as Santa Claus. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean (King); son, Bernard (Minda), Lawrencetown; daughters, Heather (Marshal) Hector, Bayswater; Pamela DeMone, Timberlea; grandchildren, Wendy, Christopher, Kirk, Karen, Jeffrey, and Lisa-Jane; sister-in-law, Nina Turpin, Bridgewater. He was predeceased by brothers, James, Gordon and Leonard. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, March 2, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and an I.O.O.F. tribute service will be at 7 p.m., both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in All Saints Anglican Church, Bayswater, Rev. Laura McCue officiating. Burial to follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bayswater.
