HUBLEY (Seaboyer), Helen Mildred -95, Black Point passed away peacefully Sunday February 1, 2009, in Maplestone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born in Queensland she was a daughter of the late J. Arthur and Sylvia (Meisner) Seaboyer. In her earlier years, Helen enjoyed a good game of cards with her "Happy Gang" friends and a daily crib game with husband, Kenneth. She loved to knit, crochet and embroider various items for family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Shelagh (Ken) Parker, Black Point; sons, Kenneth "Art" Jr. (Dorothy), Black Point; Laurie "Sonny" (Linda), Upper Tantallon; brother, Malcolm, Queensland; grandchildren, Ron, Terry, John and Lori Parker, Barbara and Paula Hubley; Brent and Darren Hubley; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth (1998); sisters, Rose, Aileen and Marjorie; brother, Reginald. The family will receive visitors 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 5. Funeral service 2 p.m. Friday, both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Rev. Laurie Omstead officiating. ABBOTT, Cyril F. -96, of Seabright, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009, in Arbourstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born in Saint Jacques, N.L., he was a son of the late John and Caroline Abbott. Cyril worked many years in the real estate business. He was an active civic politician serving many years as Alderman and a term as Deputy Mayor of Halifax. He is survived by his wife, the former Bertha "Beth" Ouellet; son, David (Gayle); daughter, Mary Lee Adams, both of Halifax; grandchildren, Barry, Sue Ann, and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Amelie, Jeremie, and Matthew; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors 4-7 p.m. Sunday, February 15th, funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 16, both in Ronald A. COVEY, Kathleen Margaret -94, of Hackett's Cove, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in East Chezzetcook, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Minnie (Dunphy) Purchase. Kathleen taught school in Hackett's Cove in her early years before leaving to raise her family. She enjoyed her quiet country life on the hill overlooking St. Margaret's Bay. She is survived by her sons, Leon and Larry, both of Hackett's Cove; Allan (Pat), Shubenacadie; daughters, Phyllis (Bruce) Hollett, Cathy (Murray) MacGray, both of Halifax; sisters, Gwendolyn Shiers, Musquodoboit Harbour; Dorothy Smith, Halifax; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son, Murray; brothers, Leon and Jack. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, from St. Margaret of Scotland Roman Catholic Church, Glen Margaret, Father Joe MacKinnon officiating, assisted by Father Lloyd O'Neill. O'TOOLE (Everet), Barbara June -66, of Hammonds Plains. It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara June O'Toole announces her peaceful passing on February 12, 2009, surrounded by her loving family in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Halifax on June 9, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Marion McGee. She was brought up by William and Helen Everet. Barbara was a caring and loving wife and mother and she loved to help others any way she could. She loved taking care of people. She was a registered C.N.A. at Northwood Manor for 22 years, a job she loved. Even in her retirement years she took care of people at home. She also enjoyed her friends and loved her flower gardens. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Jack; sons, Mark and Michael; last surviving family member, brother, Robert Everet, all of Halifax; grandchildren, Tasha O'Toole, Brandon, Man.; great-grandson, Drydon. She was predeceased by her sisters, Shirley Jennings, Lillian Mackenzie; brothers, Earl and Bill Everet. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, in Ronald A. DesROCHES, Francis Urban -78, of Simms Settlement, passed away Monday, February 16, 2009, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Wellington, P.E.I., he was a son of the late Jack and Catherine (LeClaire) DesRoches. Urban was a woodsman and teamster since the age of 17 working all over Nova Scotia till his retirement at the age of 60. He than began working at the Hubbard's Beach Campground and Cottages until 2007. He was an avid horseman who traveled the province attending many of the exhibitions and horse pulls over the years. He especially enjoyed his horse, Eric. He is survived by his companion, Alice McInnis; four children; two brothers and three sisters. He was predeceased by five siblings.
