BAKER, Alfred George
BAKER, Alfred George - Sims Settlement, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005, in the VG Site, QEII, surrounded by his family. Born in New Ross, he was the son of Grace Armstrong, Windsor Road and the late John Baker. Alfred worked in the fishing industry with Seldon Miller Fishery and Shatford's Lobster Pound for many years transporting fish to and from many points in Canada and the United States. When he could find the time he took great pleasure spending time at his camp on Mill Lake where there will be many fond memories by family and friends. He was also a Master Mason of the St. Margaret's Bay Masonic Lodge No. 118. He is survived by his wife, the former Sandra Bouchie; daughter, Rosemary (Linda Kaulback), Mill Cove; brothers, Dawson Baker, Clyde and Burnell Armstrong, all of Windsor Road; sisters, Betty Heiman, British Columbia; Sheila Collicutt, Windsor Road; grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Ashley; his mother-in-law, Hilda Bouchie, Sims Settlement; and his extended family, Doris Murphy and her children, Ausie, Angie, Jackie, Teena. TREMBLAY, Debra Lynn -  50, Halifax, passed away January 3, 2005, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, after a long battle with lung cancer. Born June 11, 1954, she was the youngest daughter of the late John and Marie (Hollahan) Tremblay. Debra graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart and Saint Mary's University.
Although she received a B.A. in English her passion was commerce. She worked for various financial institutions such as the bank of Nova Scotia, T.D. Bank and the Montreal Trust. She was a florist for many years, starting with Bumble Bee Flowers and finishing with the Greenery Florists. At this point, she joined the accounting team for Greenery Florists and the Wicker Emporium where she enjoyed many of her years. Health problems within her family made her leave the offices of Greeners and Wicker and she took over running the family business of managing apartment buildings, houses and new
construction. As her  health began to fail she sold off the family interests and could be found  sitting on her front  porch reading with the company of her three resident cats, Tarzan, "Tickle", Zulu and Fang. From her spot out front she had numerous bird feeders to the delight of Blue Jays,  Grackles and squirrels. Survived by her sister, Roberta Ramsey, Boston, Mass.; nieces, Lisa and Heather; nephews, Mike, Jonathan and Mathew; her best friend, Donna foster. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Stevens. A celebration and visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. A committal service will be held at a later

HUBLEY, Dorothy Aileen "Dot" - 94, Glen Haven, passed away quietly in her sleep January 4, 2005, in Seabright Rest Home, Seabright. Born in Glen Haven, she was a daughter of the late James and Jenny (Smith) Smith. Dot and her husband, Carl operated the Glen Haven General Store and Post Office for many years before retirement. She is survived by daughter, Joyce (Eric) Boutilier, Tantallon; Jean Belliveau, Glen Haven; brothers, Roland, Glen Haven; Melvin, British Columbia; Malcolm, Seabright; James, Glen Haven; Carl, Ontario; sisters, Beryl Claus, Ontario: Madeline MacMillian, Halifax; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren She was predeceased by her husband, Carl S.; daughters, Beatrice and Kathleen; brother, Arnold; sister, Jean; grandson, Wayne; granddaughter, Barbara. BOUTILIER, Elwood Edison - 83, Boutilier's Point, passed away January 7, 2005, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Boutilier's Point on January 17, 1921, he was a son of the late Harris and Fanny Boutilier. He was employed by camp Hill until his retirement and was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the RCA. He is survived by sons, David (Sharon), Hubbards; Robert (Gayle), Halifax; daughters, Joan Snair, Boutilier's Point; Helen (Ken) Pickerm, Bridgewater; grandsons, Dana, Jason, Mitchell Snair, Randy (Rhonda) Boutilier, all of Boutilier's Point; granddaughter, Tammy (Robbie) Zinck, Bridgewater; great-grandchildren, Justin and Devon, Brittney and Bradley, all of Bridgewater. Born in Ashmore, Digby Co., she was the daughter of the late Amos and Lousia (Nesbitt) Hill. Surviving are sons, Frank, Halifax; Irvin (Pauline), Hubley; daughters, Emily (Weldon) Rhyno, Hubley; Jean (Wilfred) White, Tantallon; Betty (Clyde) Kedy, Tantallon; Susan (Gerry) Titus, Hubley; her chosen daughters, Jane and Nancy, both of Halifax; number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. BANKS, Olga Patricia "Pat"
 Tantallon, born February 2, 1921, London, England, passed away peacefully of heart failure in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, on Thursday, January 13, 2005. She is survived by her husband, Earl; sons, Wayne (Grace), California; Peter (Laurel), Halifax; sister, Renee England; brothers, James (Nora), England; Robert (Jane) Cyprus, and their families; grandson, Jefferson, and granddaughter, Joanna, California. This lovely, beautiful and gracious lady's highest priority was always the loving support of her husband, sons and family. Patricia was the Proprietress of Rye Cove Gallery, Tantallon throughout the 70's and 80's, and was an enthusiastic supporter of art and the performing arts, especially live theatre and the symphony. She was a lifetime member of Evangeline Chapter No. 15, Order of the Eastern Star. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 16, at 3 p.m. in St. Margaret's Anglican Church, 36 St. Margaret's Cres. (off Peggy's Cove Road), Tantallon, Father Mark Marshall officiating. ODEGARD, Patricia Margaret "Patsy" - 89, Halifax, passed away January 16, 2005, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wallace Station, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Bessie Belle (Mingo) Heighton (Halifax) and adopted daughter of the late Gordon and Margaret Connolly (Glen Haven). A survivor of the Halifax Explosion, Patricia was a devoted mother, bringing up four children independently because of the unexpected death of her husband. She had worked for the Pathology Department for the Province of Nova Scotia for 17 years retiring in 1978. Patricia loved to spend time at her summer cottage in Glen Haven. Her favourite saying was, "The Lord will take care of me." She will be remembered as a very kind, loving and tender lady. She is survived by sons, Carl, Wallace Lake Acres; Donald (Eleanor), Glen Haven; daughters, Betty (Erik) Larsen, West Pennant; Carolyn Tanner, Hackett's Cove; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Jens; brothers, Bentley DeLong, Lewis, Duncan, Hugh; sister, Thelma; granddaughter, Gillian (daughter of Carl and Jane). O'NEILL (Cleveland), Hilda Irene
O'NEILL (Cleveland), Hilda Irene - 77, Indian Harbour, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and minister on January 17, 2005, in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Site, QEII. She was a daughter of the late Donald and Gertrude (Hurshman) Cleveland. She worked for many years at the Dominion Stores in Halifax, as well as at Indian Harbour General Store and Candleriggs Gift Shop in Indian Harbour, during which time she made many friends with both customers and co-workers. Hilda was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Anglican Parish, having attended church at St. John's Church in Peggy's Cove as a child and later, St. Andrews Church, Indian Harbour. Hilda was currently serving as Church Treasurer of St. Andrews Anglican Church, Indian Harbour, an office that she held since 1967. She was a long-time member of St. Andrews ACW and had taught Sunday school for many years. Hilda was a long-time member of over 40 years of the I.O.O.F.M.U., Acadia District, during which time she held a number of District Offices. She was a very active member of Loyal Seabright Union Lodge (formerly Star of New Century Lodge) where she served as Financial Secretary since 1976. She spent a number of years and was currently serving as Senior Secretary of Loyal Seabright Juvenile Lodge. She was a member of Queen's Lodge of Past Grands where she was currently serving as Recording Secretary. She was a member of the 50 Plus Club where she was founding President and still serving in that office. She spent a number of years as a volunteer reader at East St. Margaret's Elementary School, Indian Harbour. Hilda was an avid card player and loved going to the Wednesday and Saturday night card games at the Oddfellows Hall. She always enjoyed going out to bingo games when she could. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by son, Robert "Bobby", daughter-in-law Debbie and granddaughter, Kelsey "Princess", Tantallon; sisters, Annie Smith, Portuguese Cove; Effie Fiander, Spryfield; Gladys (Jack) Williams, Cape Breton; brothers, Harold (Rose) Cleveland, Indian Harbour; Keith Cleveland, Indian Harbour; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; brothers, Ronald and Raymond, and sister, Dora. Arrangements are entrusted to Ronald Walker Funeral Home, Tantallon, where visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Friday, January 21, at 10 a.m. in St. Andrews Anglican Church, Indian Harbour with Rev. I. Letto officiating. Burial will take place in St. Peters Cemetery, Hacketts Cove. A reception to follow at the Oddfellows Hall, Seabright. JOLLIMORE, Nellie Marie - 80, Mill Cove, passed away peacefully Friday, January 21, 2005, in Shoreham Village, Chester. Born in Mill Cove, she was the daughter of the late Rhoda Jollymore. Nellie will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are sons, Layton, Aaron (Joan), Vernon (Carolyn), George, all of Mill Cove; Floyd, Fox Point; Albert (Kim), Hammonds Plains; daughters, Eva Young, Janice, Cora (Perry) Dorey, all of Mill Cove; Blanche (Wayne) Dickey, Upper Vaughan's; Lola (Donald) Ewing, Rhea (Donald) Hogue, both of Sims Settlement; Rhoda (Ronald) Dean, Saint John; June, Upper Tantallon; Linda Young, Ingramport; 28 grandchildren and numerous great and great great-grandchildren. MILLER, Herman Paul - 52, Halifax, formerly of Tantallon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2005, in the VG Site, QEII, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Harold and Fannie (Sawler) Miller. Herman was a self-employed landscaper and gardener. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many hours on his ATV. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his spouse, Becky Boutilier; sons, Jason and Adam, Halifax; sisters, Mary (Tim) Ackles, Lewis Lake; Donna (Jimmy) DeMont, Chester Basin. MULLENGER, Hazel Mildred - 94, Upper Tantallon, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2005, in the presence of loved ones, following a short period of failing health. Born on Miscou Island, N.B., Hazel was the oldest daughter of the late William and Jane "Janie" (Vibert) Chiasson. Hazel was a devoted, active member of St. Margaret's Bay United Baptist Church and of her community for over 50 years. In her own special manner she touched many with her special way of independent living. Her loving kindness and caring spirit will be forever remembered. She is survived by her brother, Havelyn "Have" Chiasson, Sussex, N.B.; loving niece, Carolyn Agnew, Cole Harbour; great-nephews, Colin and Neil Agnew, Dartmouth/Halifax; loving nephew, Blair Chiasson, Toronto, Ont.; dear sister-in-law, Ruth Chiasson, Bathurst, N.B.; her precious neighbourhood family, Loyall (Phyllis) Miller and family, Gordon (Marjorie) Hill and family; her many friends, especially Olive MacDonald.
