REDMOND, Allan Fordham - 68, Seabright, passed away at home on Thursday, December 6, 2007. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Byron and Evangeline (Fordham) Redmond. Allan was one of the founding members of the Atlantic Sport Car Club, and was an avid sailor and world traveler. He retired from Maritime Tel & Tel. He then pursued his passion for cooking, using his culinary skills at the Cooper's Inn & Restaurant in Shelburne, which he co-owned with his wife, prior to returning to his home in Seabright in 2005. He was a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, the former Joan E. Hall; daughters, Lisa (William) Riddle, Sudbury, Ont.; Sarah (Edward) Snowden, Hayesville, N.C.; Hannah (Nicholas) Coombes, Langkawi, Malaysia; grandchildren, Sydney, Piper, Ryelan, Lochlan, Caitlan, Madeline, and stepgrandson, Tyler. SMITH, Donald Everett - 88, Halifax, formerly of Lewis Lake, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Roy R. and Blanche (Clarke) Smith. Donald was a veteran of the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He served during the Second World War in England, Sicily, Italy and Holland. On his return to Canada after the war, jobs were hard to come by, he held several short term jobs then got hired by Canada Post where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of the White Caps Seniors Club in Seabright, a former Citizens Band Radio enthusiast, an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family, his little dog Cindy, his gardens and the great outdoors. He got a big kick out of seeing his great-grandsons, Connor (4) and Tayler (3), when they came to visit. He is survived by his sister, Louise Sweet, Ontario; brothers, Hawley, Ontario; Kenny (Diane), Musquodoboit Harbour; Clyde, Duncan, B.C., and Bert, Musquodoboit Harbour; daughters, Moureen (Bob) Bliss, Peterborough, Ont.; Ruby (David) Dorey, Lewis Lake; sons, Roy, Sambro; Robert (Rhonda), Lewis Lake; Gary (Bev), Spryfield; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby; sister, Christine; son, Donald; daughter, Sharon; grandson, Andrew, "Andy". MANUEL, Eileen Susan - 82, Boutilier's Point. It is with great sadness that the Manuel family announce the passing of their precious Mom, loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Surrounded by her loving, family she passed away Monday, July 14, 2008, in Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth. Born in Boutiler's Point she was the daughter of the late Allister and Susan (Boutilier) Langille. Eileen worked 30 years at the Red and White Store in Boutilier's Point and her last 10 years of employment was in her home as the postmistress for the Boutilier's Point area. Eileen's passion for life was being with family and friends. Her love for music and laughter shone on her face whenever she was with them. LANGILLE, Granville Ernest - 87, Glen Haven passed away suddenly Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth. Born in Head of St. Margaret's Bay, he was the son of the late Cyril and Jessie (Boutilier) Langille. Granville lobster fished for many years and also worked as a handyman for many of the residents of the St. Margaret's Bay area. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and will be remembered by his family and many friends for his kind demeanor. He is survived by his wife, the former Rhoda Hubley; daughter, Noreen (Francis) Boutilier, Tantallon; and a number of nieces and nephews. LENAGHAN (Dorey), Lottie Elsie - 97, passed away peacefully at her home in Tantallon on Tuesday, July 17, 2008. She was a daughter of the late Nehemiah and Frances (Bourgoyne) Dorey. As a member of St. Margaret's Anglican Church, she served as president of the A.C.W., taught Sunday school, as well as past organist retiring in 1984. Lottie loved to cook, entertain, knit, crochet and gardening was her passion. She was also a lover of animals especially her constant companion, Timmy. She will be fondly remembered by her son, Peter, his wife Raylaine and so many of her friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Roy, and infant daughter, Susan; brothers, William, George, Everett, Clifford, Charlie, John, Frank; sisters, Mary, Carrie, Lillian and Edith. NORWOOD, Daniel Robert - 73, Blandford, passed away peacefully Friday, July 25, 2008, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hubbards, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Ruth C. (Brownie) Norwood. Danny started his career with the Armed Forces stationed in Winnipeg, he worked for years with C.F.S. Mill Cove and before retiring in 1998 he worked as a heavy equipment operator with South Shore Ready Mix. He is survived by his wife, the former Geraldine Elizabeth Gates; sons, Philip (Jill), Chester; Michael (Mary), Deep Cove; brother, Edmond "Ned" (Betty), Hubbards; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Jackson, Jadyn, James, Chris, Chelsea and Calum. HOLLINGUM, Lola Marion Haley - 77, Halifax, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2008, in the Palliative Care Unit, QEII Health Sciences Centre, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Black Point, she was a daughter of the late George and Edythe (Haley) Snair. Lola had a wonderful sense of humour and great love for her family and many long-time friends. She loved to travel and was a talented watercolour artist. Lola owned the Puddle Gallery in Black Point and was a member of the West End Co-op Art Gallery, the Bedford Basin Artist Society, the Contemporary Artist Society, and received recognition as an artist in the Truro "Art in Bloom" show. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Eleanor; nieces and nephews, Wendy Smith, Penny Mulcahy, Julie Snair, Maureen Moore, James Fryday, Nancy McBay, Eric Fryday, Janet Fryday Dorey, Shaun Fryday, Marion Fryday-Cook, Jeffrey Fryday; many great and great great-nieces and nephews, and her close friend, Golumba Kim. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward "Ted"; brother, Gerald, and sister, Margery (Fryday) Duncan. COLMAN, Jennie Retha - Bayswater, recently of Shoreham Village, Chester, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008, in the nursing home. Born August 7, 1926, in Bayswater, she was a daughter of the late Lovett and Violet (Awalt) Backman. Jennie grew up in Bayswater. In her teens, she worked for a short time in Hubbards and Chester. She taught school on Little Tancook Island and Windsor Road in her late teens as well. She moved to Montreal, sailed on the S.S. Winnipeg for a time and then worked for DesJardin's Restaurant. She met Bill Colman, married in 1961, and later moved back to Bayswater commuting to Halifax to operate Quilter's Delight and Bayswater Leather. Jennie was a founding member of the Blandford Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, providing coffee at bingo for over 30 years. She served on the Board of the District No. 1 Community Centre. She was a faithful member of All Saint's Church, working for the Guild and singing in the choir. She loved handcrafts, baking and playing bingo. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William T.; daughter, Patricia Colman (Rev. Dan Green), Chester; and son, William L., Timberlea; grandchildren, Joe (Amber), Tyler (Melinda), Abi and Kathryn Green; sisters, Marion Reid and Doris (Zane) Meisner; nephew, Graham (Marina) Meisner, and nieces, Glenda (Glenn) Reid-MacKenzie and Reta Reid. She was predeceased by her sister, Stella Schnare; brother, Cecil in infancy. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards.
