MacLEOD, Ronald Duncan - 55, Tantallon, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2003, at home. Born in Florence, Cape Breton, he was a son of Donald D., Big Bras d'Or, and the late Annie T. (Peet) MacLeod. Ronald's early education was in Florence and Sydney Mines and he was also a graduate of Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro. He was the Department Head of the Industrial Arts program at Sir John A. MacDonald High School and also taught at Sackville and Millwood High Schools. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed playing the guitar and was a talented wood craftsman. He is survived by sons, Gavin, Halifax; Ryan (Tanissa),
Montreal; brother, Dan (Judy), Big Bras d'Or; sisters, Donalda Kyte, Millville; Ruth (George) MacNeil, Mill Creek; former colleague and special friend, Audrey O'Leary, East Margaree. Besides his mother, he was predeceased by brother, Roddie. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. today in Wilson United Church, Florence, Rev. Bill Thomas officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association. PETERS (Saunders), Lillian May
PETERS (Saunders), Lillian May - 80, Lewis Lake, passed away Monday, June 9, 2003, at home followed by a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late John and Rachel (Cullen) Saunders. Lillian was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and was the last surviving member of her family. She retired from Sir John A. MacDonald High School where she worked in the cafeteria for many years. In her earlier years, she was employed as a seamstress in Halifax. She also belonged to White Caps Senior Group, loved to attend the Lions Club Bingo, which was held in the St.
Margaret's Bay Arena and she also enjoyed bowling. She is survived by her daughters, Linda, Lewis Lake; Janice, Lower LaHave; sons, George (Marina), Dartmouth; Terry (Sylvia), Head of St. Margaret's Bay; Gordon, Lewis Lake; grandchildren, Glen, Amanda, Chris, Browren, Nathan, Nicole, Samatha; great-grandchildren, Brett and Courtney. She was predeceased by her husband, George; daughter, Cathy Dowding; sisters, Mary Lawson, Helen Ropell, Francis Merlin and Sally Ducharme. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. No service by request. Family will receive visitors at the

MacDONALD, Muriel Edna - 82, Halifax, passed away peacefully June 12, 2003, in Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Min (Bezanson) Hartlen. Muriel took great pride in her children and grandchildren and would take great pleasure in attending their sporting events or just hanging out with them. She also loved music and was an avid card player. She is survived by her sons, Laughlin Ronald, British Columbia; Gerald Duncan (Dianne), Robert Wayne, both of Halifax; daughters, Caroll Ann (Michael), Five Islands; Beverly Helen (Philip) Conway, Colleen Dale, both of
Halifax; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Laughlin; brothers, William, Ronald, Arthur, and Alfred; sisters, Margaret and Katherine. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, with funeral service Monday at 11 a.m., both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Hwy. 333, Tantallon, Rev. Mark Pretty officiating. ASHE, Uzena Margaret - 84, Upper Tantallon, passed away Friday, June 20, 2003, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Tantallon, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Jane (Boutilier) Chandler. Surviving are daughter, Trinda (Keith) Corney, Upper Tantallon; brothers, Clyde (Mary), Brantford, Ont.; Edgel (Sylvia), Fox Point Lake; sisters, Beatrice (William) Huether, Ontario; Marion Coolen, Hubbards; Meta (Fernand) Fernette, Porters Lake; Elma (James) Desbarres, Gay's River; grandson, Dana. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald A. Ashe; brothers, Wesley, Herbert; sisters, Muriel and Anna. Family will
