NEILY, Randy Ernest - 51, New Harbour, passed away Saturday March 8, 2008, at home. Born in Berwick, he was a son of Colin (Eileen) Neily, Powell River, B.C., and the late Beulah (Zinck) Neily. He is survived by brother, Richard (Catherine) Neily, Falmouth, and their children, Joel (Irene Ferrara) Neily, Windsor; Lacey Neily, Calgary, Alta.; brother, Ryan (Catherine) Neily, Halifax; sister, Lorelei (Garnet) Becker, Powell River, B.C., and her children, Leah, Richard, Cory and Lisa Becker; special family friends, Philip and Dawn Publicover, Blandford; Patrick Trider, Hantsport. Cremation has taken place and a family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Blandford and Area Fire Rescue. KIELE, Dirk - 81, St. Margaret's Bay, passed away on March 10, 2008, in QEII Heath Sciences Centre, Halifax, with his loving wife by his side. Born in Den Haag, The Netherlands, he was the son of the late Arie and Cornelius (Fransen) Kiele. Dirk was a dental surgeon in Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands, for over 25 years, retiring to Canada. Dirk worked very hard to strive for a better life. He lived life to the fullest and always said "there's no better life and a good life." Much time was devoted to world travel and his companionship from his little dog "Teddy". Dirk has left a great impression on our hearts; he will be sadly missed but forever remembered. Dirk is survived by his wife, Audrey (Hannevold) Kiele; son, Maarten-Jon, The Netherlands; stepdaughter, Andrea Whitter, St. Margaret's Bay, and stepson, Dean (Chanika Fernando) Whitter, Windsor, Ont. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Rev. Dan Green officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flower, donations in Dirk's memory may be made to The Children Wish Foundation of Canada or SPCA.

HARNISH, Clara Frances - 88, of Birchy Head, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008, in the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. Born in Montreal, she was the daughter of the late Noble and Clara (Henley) Melvin. Clara was a loving mother and will be remembered by her family and friends as an excellent seamstress and an avid musician. Survived by her sons, Ronald, Hubbards; Douglas, Birchy Head; daughter, Celia (Richard) Heisler, Birchy Head; grandchildren, Katrina, Hubbards; Richard (Karen), Birchy Head; great-grandchildren, Mary, Victoria, Dakota and Lincoln. Predeceased by her husband, Granville; brothers, Noble, Henry and Douglas. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Marks Anglican Church, Mill Cove, Rev. Laurie Omstead officiating. Burial to follow in St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Fox Point. ORCHARD, Frederick Davidson - 63, Stillwater Lake, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief but difficult battle with cancer. Fred was born in Moncton, N.B., to the late Oswald Frederick and Helen (Davidson) Orchard. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 12 years and joined the Canadian National Railway in 1974, retiring in 1999. Not one to sit idle, following retirement, he worked for the Progressive Rail in Montreal and Kentucky, New Brunswick East Coast Railway in Campbellton, and as a real estate broker for Century 21 in Lower Sackville. In the past year, Fred enjoyed working with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires at the Halifax Port of Authority. Throughout his career, Fred earned the respect and friendship of everyone he met. Fred was a past recipient of the President's Award of Excellence from the Canadian National Railway. He was also past president of the Riverview, N.B., Kinsmen Club. Fred was devoted to his family. His children could always count on him to be there when they needed him. This would include late-night "taxi" service, where he heard all but told nothing. Fred loved playing Santa for his family and friends and was an avid gardener. He loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas. Fred concluded his life as he lived it, concerned about his family rather than himself. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, the former Ethel Laybolt; sons, Kevin (Brenda), Moncton; Kory (Pam), Lantz; daughter, Kim (Paul) Barry, Cambridge, Ont.; grandchildren, Melissa, John, Papa's special man Ben, and another grandchild due in June; sisters, Fran Stewart, Halifax; Barbara (Ron) Law, Calgary; aunt, Grace Orchard, Bridgetown; aunt Elva Orchard, Norton, N.B.; numerous nieces and nephews. Fred enjoyed the companionship of many close friends, especially Victor and Shirley Feaver and Frank and Jeanette Stone. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors and nursing of staff of 8A, VG Site, QEII, and his niece Barbara Stewart. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, in St. Luke's United Church, Upper Tantallon, Rev. Kevin Little officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. HUBLEY, Donald George - 79, Glen Haven, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Glades Lodge, Halifax. Born in Glen Haven, he was the son of the late George and Grace (Boutilier) Hubley. Donald was stricken with polio at the age of 14, leaving him physically disabled but not limited to lobster fishing in the bay or planting a large vegetable garden. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and bowling with the White Caps Seniors Club. He was an avid musician, playing the violin at many of our community events. He was also a member of the 50+ Club. Surviving are sister, Rhoda¼ (Granville) Langille, Glen Haven; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Harold, Winfield and Malcolm; sister, Marion. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, and funeral service Thursday at 11 a.m., both in Ronald A. MORASH, Leonard "Peter" - 69, West Dover, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax, surrounded by all his family. Born in West Dover, he was a son of the late Freeman and Floresta (McKinnon) Morash (West Dover). Leonard worked hard and lived even harder. Peter and Ruth took great pride in their children and grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Berringer; sons, Leo (Linda), Clayton Park; Harry (Diann), Timberlea; Gerry (Clara), Lakeside; Peter (Nicole), Dartmouth; daughter, Penny, West Dover; special former daughter-in-law, Rose; former son-in-law, Craig; grandchildren, Leo "Hunky", Cody, Derek, Taylor, Ashley, Amy, and Timothy; great-grandchildren, Bailey, and Riley; brother, Maurice (Doris), Big Lake; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers, Cyril, Donald, Orland; sister, Dorothy "Peg". The family will receive visitors 4-7 p.m. Friday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon.  DOWELL, Vera Maude - 95, Black Point. We are saddened to announce the passing of the matriarch of our family, who died peacefully at home on March 28, 2008. Born in Middlewood, Lunenburg Co., Vera was the oldest child of the late Ralph and Carrie (Connolly) Baker. Surviving are her children, Winnifred Conrad, Lower Argyle; Shirley (Lawrence) Wolfe, Milton; Garth (Mary) Goreham, South Side; Barbara (Gaye) Sims, Boutilier's Point; Carolyn Newbery, Halifax; Sharon (Gary) Vieth, Black Point; Mary Snair, Lewis Lake; Robert (Darlene) Dowell, Lantz; siblings, Gerald Baker, Bridgewater; Thelma Kenneally, Liverpool; Ralph Baker, Southwest Port Mouton; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 24 great great-grandchildren, and three great great-great-grandchildren. Vera was predeceased by her husband, Robert; sister, Rita Dagley; brothers, Melbourne Baker and Arnold Baker; grandchildren, Rose Munroe and James Conrad III; two great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Vera was devoted to her family and they to her, and she was well loved by all who knew her. She was "Nanny" to many. A family graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 31, in United Church Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. Scott Alan OíHanley -37, of Calgary, Alta., formerly of Upper Tantallon passed away peacefully on Saturday March 29, 2008, at his home in Calgary . Born in Halifax he was the son of Gerald N. and Audrey V. (Richardson) OíHanley, Upper Tantallon. Scott was an avid sportsman and he enjoyed fishing, baseball and hockey. He will be missed by all his team mates in Calgary. He took great pleasure in working in his fatherís wood pile. He graduated from Sir John A. MacDonald High School in 1989 and the Nova Scotia Community College, Akerley Campus, Dartmouth in 1992 and moved to Calgary in 1994. Scott will be remembered as a very special son, loving husband and a very special brother and uncle. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Kelly Lynn Frizzle, Calgary, formerly of Sackville; sister, Lisa (Raymond) McNeil, Lower Sackville; nieces, Kendra and Carly; paternal grandmother, Eileen OíHanley, Timberlea; honorary grandmothers, Donna Snyder, ìGramma Mosesî, Sackville; Ida Frizzle, Hantsport. He will be missed by feline buddies Smokie and Autumn. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggyís Cove Rd., Tantallon. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Timberlea, Father Michael Walsh officiating. Burial to follow in William Black Memorial Cemetery, Glen Margaret.
