YOUNG, Hilda M.
YOUNG, Hilda M. - Age 95, of Shoreham Village, Chester, died March 1, 2001, at her residence. Born in Mill Cove, she was a daughter of the late William and Stella (Jollimore) Harnish. Surviving are sons, Stewart, Timberlea; Herbert, Shoreham Village; George, Hubbards; sisters, Fannie Jennings, Shoreham Village; Verna Murphy, Mill Cove; brother, Gilford, Mill Cove; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert; son, John; daughters, Lilla, Beatrice; one grandson, George; four sisters; seven brothers. Visitation will be in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Mark's Anglican Church, Mill Cove, Rev. Mark Pretty officiating. Burial will follow in Fox Point Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 101-6080 Young Street, Halifax.

WHITE, Brian Geoffrey
WHITE, Brian Geoffrey - Age 66, East River, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2001, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Farnborough, England, he was a son of Kathleen (Hamilton) and the late Ernest White. He was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Hubbards. He retired from Revenue Canada after 26 years of service. He was fond of music and was an avid golfer. He also loved animals, especially his dog "Wendy". Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Margaret; daughters, Anne-Marie (Bruce), Cow Bay; Jenny (Jr.), Dartmouth; son, Geoffrey (Jackie), Dartmouth; as well as four grandchildren, Megan, Emily, Alanah, Michael. He was predeceased by a son, Gregory in infancy. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Hubbards, Father Brian Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Sims Settlement. Memorial donations may be made to The Lung Association or Bide Awhile Animal Shelter. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards.

DOCKRILL, Ronald Joseph - 78, of Hubley Mill Lake Rd., Upper Tantallon, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary Dockrill. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 116, Seabright. He retired after 35 years with the IWK hospital for children. He was a loving father of Chris R., Glen Haven; Ronald B., Edmonton, AB; daughters, Heather D. (Mrs. Glenn Eisenhauer), Glen Haven; Donna M. (Mrs. Rod Edens), Cincinnati, Oh.; Sylvia F., Hacketts Cove; Judith A., Tantallon. He is also survived by a brother, Cyril B., Lakeside; sister, Marie Sweeney, Dartmouth, as well as 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Francis (Trim). Visitation will be Wednesday, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Tantallon. Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Glen Margaret, Rev. James Richards officiating. Family burial in Oakridge Memory Gardens. Friends are invited to a time of fellowship at the funeral home following the service.

ASHE, Gerald Albert
ASHE, Gerald Albert - Of Upper Tantallon, died March 8, 2001, in Melville Lodge, Halifax, at the age of 83. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Robert and Hilda Ashe. Prior to his retirement he was a carpenter for many years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed all animals. He was a veteran overseas in the Second World War. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife, Uzena, Upper Tantallon; daughter, Trinda (Mrs. Keith) Corney; grandson, Dana. He was predeceased by sister, Alice; brothers, James and Lovell. Visitation will be in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Tantallon after 1 p.m. Sunday with the funeral service to follow at 3 p.m., Pastor Shant Manuel officiating. Committal will be held at a later date in the Black Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

KITLEY, Joan
KITLEY, Joan - 82, of Glen Haven, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2001, in the QEII Health Sciences Center. Born in New Glasgow she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Marjorie (Simmons) Chaldecott. Joan was a Wren during WWII, an employee of Camp Hill Pharmacology and Customs Canada, retiring in 1984. An avid gardener, bridge player and animal lover, she will be missed by her best friend and companion, Rogan, along with her many friends and family. Survived by her son, Richard (Mary), Glen Haven; step-daughter, Wendy (Robert) Kennedy, Seabright; grandchildren, Erin, Gillian, Jodi Kitley, David, Julie, Joanne and Jennifer Kennedy; ten great-grandchildren. Predeceased by husband, Ronald H. Kitley; brother, John Chaldecott. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors Monday 7-9 p.m. in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Tantallon. Funeral service Tuesday 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Anglican Church, French Village, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. Interment will be in the William Black Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the animal shelter of your choice.

GALLIE, Terrance Andrew "Ted"
GALLIE, Terrance Andrew "Ted" - 57, Glen Haven, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 25, 2001, in the palliative care unit, VG Site, QEII, Halifax, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, he was a beloved son of Mrs. Marie Gallie, Halifax and the late George Gallie. Survived by his wife, the former Paulette Anne Reeves; sons, Gregory (Diane), Mill Lake; Daniel (Christina), New Brunswick; daughters, Paula (Terry) Wile, Hants County; Theresa Redmond, Andrea (Lloyd) Levy, both of Seabright; brothers, Roy, George, Russell, Alberta; Gordon, Nova Scotia; sisters, Theresa, Cheryl, Ontario; 10 grandchildren; number of nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home Chapel, Tantallon, Pastor Ben Meloro officiating. A family committal service will be held at a later date in Sunrise Park Cemetery, Hatchet Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
