BILLARD, James Wesley Thomas - 78, Indian Harbour, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late James Billard and Edna (Thomas, Billard) Fralick. James was employed for years with Glubes and EMI Cossor and in his later years with Dalhousie University until his retirement. He enjoyed music throughout his life, played various musical instruments, including the violin, guitar, mandolin, chord organ and the mouth organ. He is survived by his wife, the former Lillian Maxine Richardson; son, Kenneth James (Catherine),
Calgary, Alta.; sisters, Lynn (Barry) Gibson, Timberlea; Edna (Elmer) Boutilier, Indian Harbour; Lillian (Kent) Crooks, Indian Harbour; grandson, Owen. He was predeceased by stepfather, Weldon Fralick. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. BLAKENEY, Robert Ryan - 86, Fox Point, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Jeddore, he was the son of the late Thomas and Minnie (Boutilier) Blakeney. Robert was a known and respected carpenter building many of the local homes. He was an adherent of Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as Deacon and he was also an avid gardener. He is survived by his son, Thomas; sister, Ella. He was predeceased by his wife, Rita. The family will receive visitors 6-9 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. CROUCHER, Stan "Teddy" - 59, Indian Harbour, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Stanly and Hildred Croucher. He was a member of St. Margaret's Bay Crib League for 19 years. He worked for many years in the Halifax and Dartmouth area as an auto mechanic, then in 1979, he owned and operated Croucher's Garage, until December, 2001. He was involved in stock car racing at Atlantic Speedway and Scotia Speed World. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughters, Colleen (Rick) and Heather; grandchildren, Mason, Paige, Dave and Stefie;
sister, Carole (Jack) Sheaves, Dartmouth; nieces, Cathryn (Gary), Elmsdale; Heather (Jolin), Gatineau, Que. He was predeceased by daughter, Sherri Lynn; brother, Paul in infancy. BANFIELD, Aaron "Lorne" - 86, Tantallon, passed away after a lengthy illness Monday, May 17, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in North Sydney on July 8, 1917, he was a son of the late Aaron and Christianna (Hollett) Banfield. Lorne was a loving husband, father and friend who inspired everyone with his bravery throughout his life and illness. Lorne is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Marion, at home; Darrell (Jacqueline), Moncton, N.B.; Christine (Ainsley) Hubley, Indian Harbour; Lorna (Mike) Green, Shubenacadie; Glenn (Theresa), Elmsdale; grandchildren, Darrell, Christopher, Shane, Scott,

YORK (Snyder), Naomi Viola - 94, Glen Haven, Halifax Co., passed away Monday, May 24, 2004, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Toronto, Ont., with two sisters, the late Kathleen Fagel and Dorothy Tarzwell, and one brother, the late Alymer Snyder, she was married at the age of 23 to the late Lawrence York. Naomi proved to be a dedicated and selfless mother and grandmother to her daughters, Janeen McAdam and Sandra Poulton; grandchildren, Sue Salmon, Stephen Barnhart, Dave McCreary, Michael Barnhart and Brad McCreary; and great-grandchildren, Nikki Salmon, Chris Salmon, Zachary McCreary, Alexander McCreary,
Katelyn Barnhart, Loren Barnhart and Hollee Barnhart. She was an extraordinary woman who enjoyed a good crossword puzzle, the art of golf and spending time with her family playing cribbage or Chinese checkers. BOUTILIER, Victor William - 88, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2004, at his home. Born in Whynacht's Point, and a lifelong resident of Tantallon, Victor loved to reminisce about the years he spent in his youth working in the woods and especially his fondness and respect for the oxen and horse teams he led. He worked a number of years with the Fraser Sawmill in Timberlea, before joining the Department of Highways as laborer on a survey crew. He was a son of the late Ansil and Hanna (Hurshman) Boutilier. He is survived by brothers, Frances, Mahone Bay; Allister, Tantallon; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased

ATTON, Carol Irene
ATTON, Carol Irene - 43, Glen Haven, passed away at home surrounded by her family Monday, May 31, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Shirlene (Johnson) Morash, West Dover, and the late Leslie L. Morash. Carol served her country in the navy, air force and army reserves from 1989 to 2000 as a medical assistant. Carol was instrumental in Swissair Flight 111 recovery operations at CFB Shearwater. Carol also worked as a medical assistant at CFB Shearwater Medical Inspection Centre for the past 15 years. Carol's loves were gardening, reading and spending time doing
crafts with her grandchildren. She will always be remembered in our prayers and our hearts. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Dan; sons, Leslie (Tammy), Tantallon; Brian (Janelle), Glen Haven; sisters, Nancy (Gordon) Ryan, Whites Lake; Cindy Poirier (Bob), East Chezzetcook; Betty Rose Shand (Gary), Halifax; Tanya Ward (Bernie), West Dover; goddaughter, Krystal Harrie, Halifax; several nieces and nephews; as well her pride and joy, Taylor, Jeremy and Shelby-Lynn, her grandchildren.
