ZINCK, Mary Catherine "Kaye" - 78, Scott's Point, East Dover, slipped away in the arms of the Lord on Sunday, October 2, 2005, in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Duhart) Brennan. Kaye was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed camping with family and friends. She was a member of the Seabright Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 116. She is survived by daughter, Cathy (Weldon) Allen; son, Michael (Theresa); sister, Betty, all of East Dover; brothers, John (Shirley) and Michael (Eva), both of Sydney; foster sons, Tyrone and Zachary Newcombe, both of Halifax; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Balford; infant daughter, Deborah; brother, Joseph; granddaughter, Sonya and companion, Olmon Herritt. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today with funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Rev. Les Ingram officiating. HIGGINS, Edward Russell "Ted" - 83, Boutilier's Point, passed away October 3, 2005, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late William and Gladys (Kennedy) Higgins. He is survived by son, Gary, Bedford; grandchildren, Kevin, Boutilier's Point; Kelly, Cole Harbour; great-grandchildren, Jayvon and Makell; sisters, Bernice (Con), Mauretta; brothers, John (Joyce), Thomas (Pauline), James (Sheila); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Violet; sisters, Doris, Mary, and daughter-in-law, Barbara. Visitation will be held today from 7-9 p.m., 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in St. James Anglican Church, Boutilier's Point, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. ANDERSON, Dorothy Margaret "Peggy" - Head of St. Margaret's Bay, passed away following a lengthy illness in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, on Tuesday, October 11, 2005. Born in 1915 in Montreal, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Ernest John and Dorothy Alice (Cottingham) Butler. Peggy attended school in Ontario, Manitoba and Nova Scotia. She traveled extensively in Canada and England visiting relatives. She was active in the Scout movement and was awarded an honor for her work. Her hobbies included many beautiful needlework pieces, reading and bird watching. She enjoyed a game of cribbage and visiting from family friends. She is survived by her niece, Dorothy and husband Gordon Hatcher; great-nieces, Vivian and Melissa Moar; great-nephew, Edward and wife Mary Moar; two grandnieces and one grandnephew. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold Fenwick; brother, Bufton Albert Butler; sister-in-law, Ruby Helen Christina (Butler) Newhook; niece, Elizabeth Joan (Butler) Moar; grandniece, Elizabeth Ann Moar Dempsey. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, October 14, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd, Tantallon. SAVOIE, Ronald - 68, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at home from lung cancer. Born in Campbellton, N.B., he was a son of the late Wilfrid and Eva Savoie. Ron worked as proprietor of Topps Men's Wear, followed by manager with the City Center Mall, until his move to Nova Scotia in 1984. Retiring three years ago from Dalhousie University where he was part of the facilities management team. Ron had a special love for boats. He will always be fondly remembered by his family and friends, as a kind, compassionate, caring and gentle person. Ron's 47 year marriage to Marie "Rickie" (Stack), formerly of Minto, N.B., was one to be admired. They were each other's best friends. Their three children will miss him terribly - daughter, Ronna (Avery) Wilson, Sackville, N.S., and their children, Andrea Boudreau, Bedford, and David Wilson, Bathurst, N.B.; sons, Paul, Mount Uniacke, and Marc (Donna) and their children, Alexis, Hailey and Caitlin, Campbellton, N.B.; sister, Claudette (Bob) Pickard, Guelph, Ont.; brothers, Jean-Marc (Albertine), Matapedia, Que., and Jacques, Vancouver, B.C. The family will receive visitors Saturday, October 22, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1.30 p.m. followed by a time of refreshment and fellowship, all to be held in Ronald A. SWEET, Margaret Eleanor - Seabright, passed away peacefully at home. Born in Melvern Square, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Edwin and Katheryn Matilda (Buchanan) Baker. She was the wife of the late Reid Sweet who had a well-known photographic store for many years on Blowers Street, Halifax. Shortly after their retirement, they moved to Seabright and became strong supporters of the William Black United Church in Glen Margaret. Margaret loved playing both golf and curling in her most active years. Her keen interest in viewing these sports never ended. Margaret remained bright and interested in all things until her death. This summer she hosted her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for one glorious week. She also hosted several groups of relatives from the United States. Margaret was a very strong minded and courageous person, she had amazing memory, wisdom and common sense. She enjoyed knitting sweaters, blankets and mittens, baking pies, rolls and cakes until the end. Loving and giving, she tenderly looked after her husband through a long illness until he died in 1995. After a heart valve replacement at the age of 86, she had 10 happy years living independently and enjoying family and friends, and her great-grandchildren who were born after her surgery. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Brian Sweet, Hubbards; grandsons, Alan, Halifax; Jamie, Canmore, Alta.; and Andrew (Val Reynolds), Calgary; daughter, Rosemary (Rev. Paul) Cumming, Riverview N.B.; granddaughters, Rebecca Cumming (Darcy Doherty), Toronto, Ont.; Lindsey (Kevin) MacKay, Fredericton, N.B.; great-grandchildren, Ganden, Reid and Cian Doherty, Kalum and Laurel MacKay; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Reid; brother, Archie, and sisters, Esther (Edward) Bollinger and Harriet (Cameron) Spurr; half-sister, Mary Cox. Funeral service will take place in William Black Church in Glen Margaret on Thursday, November 3, at 2 p.m. A family committal service will be held at a later date in Melvern Square. MORASH, Lyle Clyde - 75, West Dover, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 28, 2005, while on a hunting trip in Hants County. Born in West Dover, he was the son of the late Clyde and Esther (Baker) Morash. He was a faithful member of West Dover Baptist Church. He was formerly employed as a heavy equipment mechanic with L.W. Allen Limited and was retired from Mills Heavy Hauling Limited. He had a passion for old cars and engine repairs. Lyle received great enjoyment from playing his guitar and fiddle, and he loved old-time country music, especially Hank Snow songs. He was a very devoted husband, father and "papa". He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, the former Florence Grace Corney; sons, Vernon, Big Lake; Robin, Baton Rouge, La.; three grandchildren; a niece, a nephew and many cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Morash; stepmother, Rose "Etta" (Cleveland) (Zinck) Morash. The body is resting in Ronald Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Cove Rd., Tantallon. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 1, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, in West Dover Baptist Church, Rev. Michael Cannell, Rev. Gerald Zinck and Rev. Ardythe Ashe officiating. Interment in Baptist Cemetery, East Dover. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to West Dover Baptist Church building fund would be appreciated.
