BUTLER, George Garnet - 65, Hammonds Plains, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007, at home. Born in Halifax, on September 27, 1942, he was a son of the late George R. and Edith P. (Sellon) Butler. Garnet was active in the Canadian Rental Association. He was well-known throughout Canada and the United States having traveled far and wide as the Canadian President and Atlantic Director. He founded and operated Butler Scaffolding Rentals & Sales Ltd. in Halifax for many years until his recent illness. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially loved salmon fishing. He was an excellent hockey player and was frequently present at the St. Margaret's Bay Arena watching his son and grandchildren or playing hockey in the Masters Hockey League. He is survived by his wife, the former Karna (Schram); daughter, Denise (Tony) Boutilier; son, Colin (Crystal Hunter); grandchildren, Erika and Chantal Boutilier and Dylan Hunter; brothers, Jack (Bonnie), Halifax; Ed (Marlyn), Victoria B.C.; Ray (Lynn), Lower Sackville; Charlie (Charlene), Bolton, Ont.; Robert (Judy), Black Point; Ronald, Falmouth; sisters, Joyce Greer, Victoria B.C.; Charlotte (Don Hills) McInnis, Head of St. Margaret's Bay; Nancy (Ken) Garnier, Kentville; Brenda Tanner (Rick Brown), Winnipeg, Man.; Gloria Butler, Black Point; Nadine (Deryll) Hemmersley, Winnipeg, Man. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Murray and Eric; sister Eleanor. Visitation will take place 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd, Tantallon. Funeral service pending. Family flowers only. SCHWARTZ, Hilda Victoria - 102, Chester, formerly of Hubbards, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007. Born in Birchy Head, she was the daughter of the late William and Victoria (Awalt) Harnish. She is survived by her son, Arnold, Hubbards, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; daughters, Marilyn and Wanita. A committal service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 14, in Pine Hill Cemetery, Hubbards, Rev. Laurie Omstead officiating. MORASH, Vola Gloria - 66, Upper Tantallon and formerly of West Dover, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2007, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Vola will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister by her many relatives and friends. She is survived by her husband, Everett; daughters, Barbara (Guy) Morash-Kendall, Tantallon; Rosa (Robert Billard) Morash, Seabright; Deanna (Norman Herritt) Murphy, Indian Harbour; brothers, Rodney (Goldie) Boutilier and Charles (Katheryn) Boutilier, both of Indian Harbour; grandchildren, Cecilia and Charles Murphy, Halifax; Travis Kendall, Tantallon; many nieces and nephews. GILLIGAN, John Michael "Buddy" -
63, Hackett's Cove, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 25, 2007, at home.
Born in Brockville, Ont., he was a son of the late Michael and Laura Gilligan.
He was a proud Canadian who in his early years served aboard the HMCS
Bonnaventure. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Linda (Boutilier);
sons, Jimmy (Diane), Timberlea; Shawn (Shelly), Bedford; Aaron (Nicole), Hatchet
Lake, and "favourite" daughter, Rebecca (Derek), Halifax; grandchildren, Andrew,
Emma (Grandpa's special princess), Connor and Cassidy. He was predeceased by
brothers, William and Jerome; sisters, Mary, Audrey, Delena, Virgery, and
Marlene. It was John's "Buddy's" wishes that there be no services and that his
family and friends remember him as a loving husband, father and a good friend to

VERGE, Lawrence Kenneth - 69, East Dalhousie, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 27, 2007, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born on October 15, 1938, in Halifax, he was a son of Irene (Newell) Verge, Halifax, and the late Joseph Verge. Larry was a very energetic, loving husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren are the jewels of his life; they are his perfection, tickle spot, his light and his roses. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Rosemary (Fougere); son, Darrin (Crystal); daughter, Lorianne (Scott) Nicholson; grandsons, Ashton, Gavin and Josh; granddaughters, Samantha and Haley; sisters, Sandra (James) Simourd, Doris Roberts, Patricia (Charles) Doucette, Sharon Verge.
